The Victorian Shelters at Nairn West Links are due to undergo repairs this coming Autumn as part of the wider Nairn Common Good Links Heritage project which recently saw the Toorie monument refurbished. As part of the repairs to the shelters, our charity, Blue Space Highland, has commissioned an artwork to be designed and implemented by a local artist working with students from Nairn Academy. Supported by members of the Nairn Book & Arts Festival around ten prospective artists were considered with Forres based Tilly Currah, being finally chosen by the students as the one they wished to work with.

Tilly met with Leeanne today to discuss the plans for how the artwork will be installed and also plans for a paddleboarding adventure for her and the students to help inspire this piece. Tilly’s passion for blue spaces was evident and we’re absolutely delighted to welcome her to this awesome project. ![]()

To make this happen we’ve been supported by a small grant from the Highland Whole Family Wellbeing Fund encouraging young people in Nairn to be involved in a piece of community art that encourages people to connect with the amazing coastal environment we enjoy in the town. ![]()
Keep your eyes peeled for progress in the coming months!
